Intra-Oral Cameras Surprise, AZ
At Surprise Smiles, we work hard to make sure your teeth stay in tip top condition. We are committed to adopting proven technologies that will save you time and money. We only adopt technologies that we are certain will help your teeth, which is why we have adopted the intraoral camera. Prevention is the most important aspect when it comes to keeping your mouth healthy, and we have found that by using the intraoral camera, we can educate our patients on how they can keep they mouth healthy!
What is the intraoral camera?
This is a small, toothbrush-shaped camera that we use to take live footage of your mouth. X-rays offer us a great way to take a look at structures inside your mouth that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to see. Similarly, the intraoral camera can show us, and you, what is going on in your mouth from different angles and viewpoints that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to see.
The Reason For The Intraoral Camera
We believe that it is our job to educate you as best we can about what is going on inside your mouth. When you understand what’s happening in your mouth, you will be better prepared to take great care of it. One of the biggest challenges that we have faced over the years leading up to our adoption of the intraoral camera was describing what is going on in our patient's mouths. It can be difficult to use mirrors and descriptions to tell someone about their mouth. With the intraoral camera, we can show you in real time what’s going on in your mouth.
How The Intraoral Camera Works
There are lot’s of technologies out there that you may be familiar with that are similar to the intraoral cameras that we use in our office. Personal, high definition video recorders are fairly similar, but not quite the same. As mentioned above, the intraoral camera is toothbrush shaped and fairly small, you will not even feel anything when we insert it into your mouth. The camera has a wire that comes out the back which feeds it power and relays the video images to a computer that we have at every patient station. We will have a computer monitor that you can view to see inside your mouth as we use the camera to scan.
Regular Cleanings and Examinations Are Important!
Everyone knows that brushing and flossing are critical to making sure your mouth stays healthy and happy. We want to remind you that coming in at least twice a year for a regular cleaning and examination is just as important. During these checkups, we can evaluate your oral health and make sure that things like cavities don’t sneak up on you. We are also able to clean and polish your teeth, which makes it very hard for plaque and tartar to build up.
