Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry is the field of dentistry focused on salvaging and repairing existing teeth. The goal of restorative dentistry is saving existing teeth and utilizing the least invasive procedures necessary to meet your needs. Restorative dentistry is needed when preventive dental measures have not been properly utilized.

What Does Restorative Dentistry Involve?

Restorative dentistry involves a variety of corrective measures. This may involve combating issues such as tooth decay or gum disease. Restorative procedures can sometimes be completed in a single visit with our team, but oftentimes require two or more visits for more involved cases. The number of visits and the type of procedure needed will depend on your needs.

Restorative dentistry encompasses a large variety of dental procedures. The most common type of restorative dental procedure involves fillings. Fillings are a simple corrective dental procedure during which our professionals will remove the damaged or decayed part of your tooth with a dental drill. They will then fill this void with a composite that will harden and strengthen your tooth.

If the damage to your tooth is too severe for a filling, a dental crown is another common restorative procedure that we perform. Receiving a dental crown generally will involve two dental visits. During the first visit, our team will conduct digital imaging and may take a mold of your tooth. This mold is sent to a lab so that your dental crown can be created. Your crown should be ready in a few weeks.

During your follow-up visit, our team will remove any damaged surfaces from your teeth. We will then install your new dental crown, which will completely encapsulate your damaged tooth. Crowns are a staple of restorative dentistry and generally last approximately ten years.

Restorative dentistry may also involve the replacement of a tooth if you have damaged teeth that are beyond repair. Restorative and cosmetic dentistry may both involve the replacement of multiple teeth. The difference is that restorative dentistry is done out of necessity as opposed to for purely aesthetic benefits.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Many individuals believe in having a beautiful set of teeth and a great smile. That is the primary reason why a person consults a dentist for cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic dentistry refers to any dental procedure done to improve oral function - to improve the biting teeth or the look of your gums. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving your aesthetics. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on enhancing the symmetry, location, size, color, and form of your gums and teeth. If you are a candidate for cosmetic dentistry, our skilled team at Surprise Smiles are ready to help you.

What Is Involved In Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry often entails applying a dental material to your teeth or tissues. These include restorations such as dental bridges, porcelain veneers, dental crowns, and gum grafting.

Current cosmetic dentistry may improve your appearance if your teeth are damaged, stained, broken, cracked, misplaced, malformed, or have spaces between them. A smile makeover is a cosmetic dentistry operation that enhances the look of your smiling face with more cosmetic dentistry techniques. Our cosmetic dentists collaborate with you to create a medication regimen.

Anyone with minor, aesthetic defects on their front teeth, such as cracks, chips, discoloration, or gapped teeth, is ideal for cosmetic dentistry. It would be best to visit our dentists first to determine what steps you need to take to qualify for cosmetic dentistry.

Our team of dentists go out of their way to make sure every patient feels welcomed and relaxed during their appointment. We understand that the more comfortable you feel, the more likely you’ll be back to get the dental health services you need. We provide the highest quality dentistry for both children and adults of all ages.

Staying Up To Date

An important aspect of dentistry is staying constant. Dentistry is a rapidly changing and growing area. Through continuous education, we make sure that we are knowledgeable on the latest techniques and tools to give our patients the best care. We are committed to uncompromising attention to detail and treating our patients with respect and courtesy.
